Darlene J. Newman

Darlene J. Newman, 87 of Greenfield passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Hancock Regional Hospice. She was born September 27, 1928 in South Bend, Indiana to the late George H. and Mable M. (Swaney) Parks. Darlene married Oliver M. Newman on May 3, 1949 and they made their home in Greenfield. Prior to being a Registered Nurse at Hancock Memorial Hospital for 25 years and 10 years at Major Hospital in Shelbyville, Darlene graduated from The South Bend Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She attended Mohawk United Methodist Church. Darlene loved playing cards, knitting, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving Darlene are her children; Garry Newman of Greenfield; Kevin (Cathy) Newman of Greenfield; Shelley (Steve) Vail of Greenfield; grandchildren, Kyle (Kat) Vail, Alyse (Corey Lee) Vail, Keegan Vail (Sophie Plunkett), Jason Newman, Jennafer Newman, and her great-granddaughter Margot Vail. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Oliver Newman who passed away 1982, sister, June McKeeman, and daughter, Candice Newman. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield, 1780 West Main Street Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately after the visitation at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with burial following at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
