Anna "Rosie" Schlechtweg

Anna Rosezetta "Rosie" Schlechtweg, 96, Fountaintown, and long-time resident of Hancock County passed away Monday, January 11, 2021, in Greenfield. Rosie was born on July 30, 1924 in Westport, IN to the late Ernest and Lula (Owens) Black. She married Lewis Schlechtweg on June 11, 1947. Rosie took great pride in being a female welder during WWII. She also worked alongside her husband where they jointly owned a hardware store in Indianapolis for over 10 years. For several years, she was an amateur artist and enjoyed painting, as she would freely share her pictures with relatives and friends. Rosie was also very active in her church, Fountaintown Christian Church, late into her 90s. She also sold Watkins products. Rosie is survived by her loving children: Ronald (Jane) Schlechtweg, Karen (Thomas) Simpson, and Harold Schlechtweg; grandchildren: Michael Schlechtweg, Jill Schlechtweg, Rachel Baker, Stephanie Simpson, Nathaniel Simpson, and Christopher Simpson; 3 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Margaret Schlechtweg, Ethel Dougherty, and Marilyn Jean Oldham. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, IN. A graveside service will be held at Park Cemetery, the same day, at 1:30 p.m. As a reminder, all attendees will need to adhere to mask-wearing protocol and that of social distancing.
