Anthony J. Triarsi August 15, 1948 - October 5, 2007
Dr. Anthony J. "Tony" Triarsi, 59, of Greenfield, entered into Heaven Friday, October 5, 2007 at his residence.
He was born August 15, 1948 in Ribera, Sicily, to Emanuele and Marianna (Guddemi) Triarsi.
Recieving his doctorate of education from Ball State University in 1981, Dr. Triarsi was the Superintendent of Schools, Industrial Arts Teacher and Vocational Director of the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Children's Home from 1970-1991. He was the Principal of Kennard Elementary School from 1991-1996, and the Principal of Knightstown Elementary School from 1996-2007.Dr. Triarsi served in the U.S. Army. He held several positions in the Knights of Columbus including Charter Grand Knight in 1992, and Grand Knight in 1993. He was a Chaplain with the American Legion Post 152 in Knightstown and was named American Legion Educator of the Year, District 10, in 2006. Dr. Triarsi was currently serving as Treasurer of the Knightstown Home Optimist Club #04303 where he was Optimist of the Year in 1997, as well as President in 1983 and 1984. He received a distinguished Hoosier Award in 1991 and another in 2007, and also was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. A die-hard Yankees fan, he enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Linda (McWilliams) Triarsi, whom he married on September 18, 1971; daughters, Jenni Triarsi, Christi (Chris) Leininger all of Greenfield; father, Emanuele (Maria) Triarsi of Yorktown Heights, NY; brother-in-law, Trent (Doris) McWilliams of Franklin; sisters, Antoinette (Tom) Catalina of New Town, CT, Lilian (Eric) McLoughlin of Mahopac, NY; sister in law, Gail (Bob) Malloy of New Palestine; two grandchildren, Jack and Emma Leininger of Greenfield; nieces, Amy (Griffin) Chandler and son, Gage, of Bargersville, IN, Maggie McWilliams of Franklin, IN, and Ashley Malloy of Mongomery, Alabama; nephews, Tommy Catalina of New Town, CT, Kevin (Jill) McWilliams of Woodstock, IL, and Drew Malloy of New Palestin, IN.
He was preceded in death by his mother on May 3, 1986.
Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Greenfield. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown, with military honors provided by Knightstown American Legion. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield.
