Barbara Carney Harrell

Barbara Carney Harrell, 88, New Palestine, IN, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as she was surrounded by family, on December 4, 2024. Barbara was born on March 7, 1936, in Cadiz, KY, to Wade Washington and Annie Elizabeth (Chapman) Carney. Barbara married the love of her life William Glenn Harrell in 1955.

Barbara was an empowered Christian woman. She loved the Lord and praised his being often. She and her family were members of Franklin Road Baptist Church as well as Arlington Heights Baptist Church. More recently, Barbara was a member of Brookville Road Community Church. Barbara was a philanthropist through and through and very much loved giving her heart and support to those in need. She often supported Wheeler Mission, the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, and countless others. Barbara was a loving and caring mother to her children in addition to being a wonderful and compassionate grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed humor, traveling to and walking in the beaches of and living in the Edgewater, Florida area for many years, being a Girl Scout leader, fishing, and camping. Her heart was made of gold. She worked at Western Electric for 9 years. She then endeavored into home child care for many years. She retired from being an accountant for Gary Aiken after many years of service.

Barbara is survived by her loving children: Vicki Harrell, Joe (Liz) Harrell, and Sam Harrell (Toni Bruce); grandchildren: Jordon (Chelsea) Harrell, Holli Harrell, Nick Harrell, and Carly Harrell; great-grandsons, Braxton and Brayden; brother, Ernest Weakley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Wade Carney; mother, Annie Miller; loving husband, William Glenn Harrell; and siblings: Raymond Carney, Louise Cherry, Charles Carney, and Martha Cobb.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home- Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, with the service immediately following. Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to any one of the following charities Barbara frequently supported: Wheeler Mission, the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross, and/or the American Heart Association.
