Barbara J. Gilson October 4, 1929 - March 13, 2008
Barbara S. Gilson, 78, a resident of Greenfield, passed away, Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Hancock Regional Hospital.
She was born October 4, 1929 in Greenfield, IN to the late Virgil and Elsie (Reynolds) Gilson.
She was a 1947 graduate of Greenfield High School, attended the public relations course at Andrew Carnegie Institute, 1966, worked in the Hancock County Recorders office for 20 years, was the Recorder for 8 years and retired from Indianapolis Public Schools in 1991 as a secretary. She was a lifelong member of Greenfield Christian Church, past President of Greenfield BPW Club, Psi Xi Sorority, Lee Blazer Studio Club, charter member of the Historical Society, Hancock County Mental Health Association, Greenfield Senior Citizens, Singles Club, Indiana Historical Landmark Association, Riley Old Home Society, Historic Landmarks, Retired Teachers Auxiliary and member of the Hancock County Extension Service.
She is survived by a sister, Evelyn Wilson of Greenfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lorenze Reynolds Gilson.
A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the Greenfield Christian Church with John Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

My brother and I were returning from NY and stopped in to meet our relative, Barbara. What a delight! She was so full of energy and I loved getting her cards and " visiting with her. She will be greatly missed!
