Barbara Jane Kiphart

Barbara J. (Wilhite) Kiphart, age 79, of Fortville, Indiana passed away on July 6, 2023. She was born July 26, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Dee and Ella (Isabell) Wilhite. She was married on November 11, 1961 to her one love, James A. Kiphart Jr., for 46 years until his passing.

Barbara was a dedicated employee of Roll Coater in Greenfield where she retired as a sales manager after 38 years. She graduated from Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis. Many friends and family have been blessed by her cooking. She enjoyed gardening, camping, reading autobiographies, and hosting swimming parties at her home in Greenfield, Indiana for many years. She especially enjoyed raising her children and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She shared many memories and laughs with her Yakkity-Yak card club best friends and her life-time friend Linda (Hall) Conner.

Barbara was blessed with three children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Jeanette (Jason) Volpp of San Diego, California, and Benjamin Kiphart (Kim) of Greenfield; grandchildren, Jeremy and Christopher Sturgill, Megan and Taylor Volpp, and Zachary and Katelyn Kiphart; great-grandchildren include Samara, Sophi, and Brenden Sturgill; and brother, Larry A. Wilhite. She is preceded in death by her parents, listed above; her beloved husband James A. Kiphart Jr.; daughter, Jennifer (Oscar) Sturgill; sisters, Patsy Ann Wilhite and Cynthia (Wilhite) Showalter; and niece, Heather Showalter.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Park Cemetery, Greenfield, Indiana. Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana, 46140, is handling arrangements.
