Betty Lea (Hawkins) Stewart, "Miss Sunshine," 92, formerly of Philadelphia, IN and Greenfield, IN, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Morristown Manor, Morristown. She was born on August 6, 1929 in Philadelphia, IN to Louis Owen and Clysta A. (Willett) Hawkins. Betty was full of adventure, enjoyed creating artwork, doing puzzles, feeding & watching the birds and an occasional mischievous squirrel. She loved to sing and anyone that was close to her will miss hearing her songs. She was always with pen and paper and created beautiful works of poetry and short stories. She was quick to support the less fortunate and loved to give things away. She loved God and her family. She read the Bible often and from a young age attended church, especially in her younger years at the Philadelphia United Methodist Church. She loved to raise parakeets and upon their maturity give them away. She enjoyed vacationing in Florida near the beaches, ocean, and boats. In her younger years, Betty worked in the office of a telephone company. She was a member of Greenfield Senior Citizens as well as the Moods & Rhythms Poetry Society. Betty is survived by her children: Dona (Larry) Daniels, Danny Stewart, and David Stewart; grandchildren: Christina Snow, Angela (Ryan) Simpson, Katrina (Aaron) Teske, and Dana Rowe; great-grandchildren: Brayden Simpson, Blake Simpson, Annabel Simpson, Wyatt Teske, Meadow Teske, Seth (Alison) Rowe, and Savana Rowe; great-great-grandchildren: Everett Rowe and Oaklee Rowe; sister, Barbara Price; niece, Valerie (Marvin) Graddy; 2 great-nieces; and a great-great-nephew. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; children: Denny Lee Stewart and Deborah Alison; brother, Elda Louis Hawkins; and a great-nephew. Close family will gather for an intimate Celebration of Life Ceremony to be held at a later date.
