Betty Joyce (Newton) Taylor, 95, Carthage, IN, passed away on September 4, 2023. She was born on July 3, 1928, in Chicago, IL, to Lilburn L. and Thelma E. (Bundy) Newton. She is a graduate of Charlottesville High School. She later attended Cosmetology schooling. She was a beautician for over twenty-five years, retiring in 1971.
Betty was a member of the Realife Church as well as the Red Hat Society. She loved to crochet and sew, and for a time made and sold herbal salves and soaps. She was an outstanding cook and loved to bake.
Betty is survived by her loving sons, Steven and Stanley Bennett; a step-daughter, Roberta Whitaker; a step-son, Cliff Taylor; sisters, Mary Cooley and Virginia Hardy; as well as 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lilburn Newton; mother, Thelma Burrow; and former spouses, Fieldon Bennett, Andy Yanosh, and Brent Taylor.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield. Burial will take place in Walnut Ridge Cemetery following visitation.
