Betty Lou Shively September 21, 1924 - January 22, 2009
Betty Lou Shively, 84a lifelong resident of Greenfield laid down her cross and picked up her crown on January 22, 2009. She was born September 21, 1924 to the late Willard B. and Mabel (Johnson) Fields. Betty Lou was a graduate of Greenfield High School and later married Robert A. Shively on April 29, 1943. Together they raised their five children and from 1953 until 1967 owned and operated Shivelys Grocery. Mrs. Shively also worked for the New Palestine School Cafeteria until 1974 and then the Indiana Highway Department, retiring in 1990. Betty Lou also sold Avon Products for 42 years.
She was a member of Shiloh Christian Church where she was active in the Ladies Aide and choir, and a member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority.
Betty Lou is survived by sons; Robert A. (Jane) Shively II of Hiram, GA., Michael D. (Laura) Shively of Shelbyville and Jay F. (Cathy) Shively of Shelbyville, daughters; Donna K. (Bill) Corbin of Monticello, IN., and Elizabeth N. (Tim) Couse of Greenfield, Brothers; Max (Betty) Fields of Greenfield and Earl (Dawn) Poe of Zionsville, thirteen wonderful grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Robert in 2005.
Services for Mrs. Shively will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 26, 2009 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 W. Main Street, Greenfield with Pastor Fred Girdwood officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Shiloh Christian Church.
