Betty Whitaker

Betty Marie Whitaker, 89, of Greenfield, IN, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Betty was born in Connersville, IN on November 22, 1929, a daughter of the late Nellie (Robinson) Eickenroth and James VanSickle. She was the widow of Hubert T. Whittaker whom she married May 8, 1954 and he preceded her in death Aug. 2, 2007. They shared 54 years in marriage. They lived in Florida after retirement and enjoyed camping and fishing. They were longtime square dancers. They traveled the world square dancing. They were members of the former Fountaintown Christian Church many years. Betty worked and retired as an assembly worker from Western Electric in Indianapolis and also worked at International Furniture Co. in Rushville. Betty is survived by a daughter, Glenda (Harold) Raikes, of New Palestine, IN and one sister, Sarah Sweet, of Rushville, IN. Betty is also survived by four grandchildren, Tracy Harmon, Crystal Fletcher, Michelle Jackson and Paul Raikes. Also missing her will be several great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Todd and a grandson, John Raikes. Eleven brothers and sisters also have passed away. A Celebration of Life will be held 10 AM Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main St, Greenfield, IN with Michael Smith officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday, Jan. 22nd. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield, IN.
