Bonnie Louise (Lee) Bliss

March 23, 1932 — December 23, 2023

Bonnie Louise Lee was born on March 23, 1932, in Fairview, Indiana to John and Nellie (Gibbs) Lee. She grew up on their nearby family dairy farm on what is now called the Nell Lee Road.  She was part of a large family consisting of brothers: Edwin, Grant, Archie, John, & Kenneth; and sisters: Pauline Long, Ruth Demit, Hazel Lee, Mary Rochat, Opal Baatz, Helen Cooper, Beulah Nave, Anna Lee and Nellie Cooper.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her beloved husband, Don Bliss, and son-in-law, Keith Pryor.

Survivors include her daughters, Lisa Pryor of Illinois and Linda (Mike) Briant of Texas; grandson, Jordan (Jana) Pryor of Illinois; great-grandson, Jude Thomas Pryor; and numerous nieces and nephews throughout the country. Special thanks to niece Pat Cooper for her frequent visits with coffee, donuts, cake pops and more. Pat went above and beyond to help care for Bonnie.

Bonnie graduated from Vevay High School in 1950 and shortly after married the love of her life, Don Bliss on December 29, 1950. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary the year Don passed in 2000.

Bonnie worked at Anderson High School, Mayhill Publications and Westminster Village North for several years. She worked until she was 80 years old.

The Bliss family lived in Broad Ripple area of Indianapolis until they moved their family to Hancock County eight miles from Greenfield in 1974.

Bonnie was a devout Christian and a member of the Eden United Methodist Church and was a very active member until her health prevented it.  Bonnie was the most caring person in the world. Her passion was taking care of her family and all others in need. She enjoyed watching Lisa and Linda perform in school events along with Don. She adored her grandson Jordan and attended his sporting events, graduations and wedding ceremony. She was famous for her home-made yeast rolls in which she made 75 dozen every year for the Eden United Methodist Church Annual Ham and Turkey Supper. She was also quite known for her delicious home-made triple layer German Chocolate cakes, sugar cream pies, blackberry pies and many more treats. Back when the church would have a food tent at the Hancock County Fair, she was the Beef Manhattan Queen. Bonnie enjoyed playing Euchre with family and friends. She loved watching the Indiana Pacers and IU and Purdue men's basketball.

Bonnie died peacefully on December 23, 2023, after suffering from dementia for quite some time. She will be buried in a private ceremony at the Eden Cemetery adjacent to the Eden United Methodist Church next to husband, Don. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

The funeral service will held at the Eden United Methodist Church in Eden, Indiana on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.  Stillinger Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
