Bonnie Sue Smith

May 12, 1943 — March 9, 2025

Bonnie Sue Smith, 81 years, a resident of Greenfield passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025,

at Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield. She was born May 12, 1943, in New Castle,

Indiana, to the late Roy and Dorothy (Ramey) Day.


She graduated from Mt. Summit High School and later Ball State University with a Bachelor

of Science in Education. She retired as Director from Delaware County CPS after over 30

years of employment. She enjoyed reading, camping, flower gardening and most of all she

enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.


She is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Loren Rigdon) Smith, longtime companion, John

Salis, Jr., brother, David (Brenda) Day, sister, Carole Conyers, grandchildren, Valerie (Craig)

Bailey, Amanda (Mike) Gorney, Spencer Phegley, Hunter Phegley, Ariel Rigdon, great

grandson, Hoyt Gorney, nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents listed above, husband, Garland Smith,

grandchildren, Noah Phegley and Baby PH.


Her visitation will be 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday14, 2025 at Stillinger Family Funeral

Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 W. Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. There will be no

funeral service. Burial will be at a later date at South Mound Cemetery, New Castle,

Indiana.
