Brenda Kay (Rea) Rock

Brenda Kay (Rea) Rock, 84, Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024. She was born on May 6, 1940, in Connersville, IN, to Linville and Olive (Caskey) Rea. She attended Indiana Business College. On October 7, 1962, Brenda married Gary Lee Rock in her hometown.

Brenda worked as a legal secretary for Attorney Dean Dobbins as well as at the Hancock County BMV, Greenfield office. But above all, Brenda devoted her mentorship, love, and guidance to her husband and children as she could often be found at home supporting their thriving lives and careers while tending to the everyday tasks of raising a home. Brenda loved to collect cruet glass pieces, Christmas ornaments, and Department 56 houses. She and Gary could often be found looking around in antique shops for their next treasure. Brenda was a member of the Indianapolis Hosta Society and she and Gary would often bring their education and love of plants to their own yards. Brenda loved to bowl and at times could be found accompanying Gary on his golfing tournaments. She was a member of Bradley United Methodist Church.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Gary of 62 years; their children, Beth Rock and Mike (Kris) Rock; grandchildren: Amanda Rock, Ben Rock, and Caleb Cook; and cousin, Suzie Ridenour.

Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Linville Rea; mother, Olive Richie; and half-brother, Terry Rea.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 W. Main Street, Greenfield, with the service immediately following at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor David Rosenthall officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Greenfield.
