Bruce Arthur Pawson, 74, Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Kindred Hospital. He was born on December 7, 1947, in Great Lakes, IL, to the late Richard Pratt and Dortha Jane (Hasch) Pawson. He graduated from James Madison University and Webster University where he achieved his master's degree in human relations.
Bruce served in and retired from the U.S. Army. He took great pride in serving his country as well as working at DFAS for a combined 40 years. He retired as Sergeant First Class. Bruce also took great pride in working through the different levels of the Boy Scouts of America, having achieved rank of Eagle Scout. In retirement, he could be seen watching football and history documentaries or enjoying his role as Opa to his many grand and great grandchildren.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife Patricia (Graves) Pawson, whom he married on November 2, 1979; children: Nicola Sahhar, Cleo Codsi, Michelle Aghabi, Erica Lemoine, and Rachel Morgan; grandchildren: Alysha (Eric) Curtis, Samantha Luttrell, Ashley (Marcus) Vick, Kenneth (Elizabeth) Lemoine, Austin Lemoine, and several additional grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Kathy McCray; and nephews: Douglas McCray and Stuart McCray.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Hendryx Cumberland Chapel, 11636 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, with the funeral service immediately following.
