Charles Fife, 92, of Greenfield passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
A proud veteran of the Korean War, Charles served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Following his service, he worked as a coal miner in Eastern Kentucky and later a skilled craftsman for the Indianapolis Public School Corporation.
Charles was a devoted husband and father who found great joy in the simple things- camping and bass fishing at Fishtrap Lake in Phyllis, Kentucky, tinkering in his garage, and strumming his guitar.
Born on March 25, 1933 in Nigh, Kentucky, he was the son of the late John W Fife and Alka Mae Hunter Fife Fields. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tressie Owens Fife; one son , Stewart Fife; Step-Father Pinson Fields, brothers Thomas Virgil Fife, John Maytag Fife, Berlin Fife, Zack Fife, and Gerald Fife; and sister Ernie Belle Fields, Clarice Jean Adams, Hazel Griffith, Ernestine "Tiny" Maynard, and Sadie Imal Hall.
He is survived by his children Charles R Fife of Virginia, Debby Lear of North Carolina, Jo Bokelman of Indiana, Sharlet Gandy of Indiana and Stanley Fife of Indiana; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Charles will be deeply missed and forever loved in the hearts of those who knew him.
