Charles B. Hughey March 20, 1923 - October 9, 2010 Charles B. Hughey, 87, a resident of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Golden Living Center Brandywine. He was born March 20, 1923 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late John B. and Frances E. (Mitney) Hughey. Charles was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School, was a department manager for L.S. Ayres in Indianapolis, enjoyed Radio Controlled hobbies with his son, was devoted and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by a son, Charles Dean (Denise) Hughey of Greenfield; daughters, Pamela Deer of Greenfield, Cheryl L. (Matthew) MacWillie of Anaheim, CA, Terri (Mark) Cassie of Knightstown; 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Slough of Lebanon, IN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol A. Hughey; brothers, Calvin, Edward and Joseph Hughey; sisters, Evelyn Reinert, Myrtle McDonald, Dorothy Fisher, and Elizabeth Clara McNelis. No services will be held at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield. Comments How sad I was to learn of Cousin Charlie's death. and how sad I am, too, that I missed the family reunion last summer where I was looking forward to seeing " Charles and the rest of you all. I loved Charles so much, loved to "gab" with him and listen to and share his phlosophical wisdom. Also, I will be forever grateful for the way he helped me get my house and yard in order at a time I needed his help very much. He taught me how to do things I still remember and use. I regret that, when he ruthlessly cleaned out my poison ivy, he, unfortunately, proved not to be immune to it as he had thought, but contracted an awful case - all to protect me!
