Christopher Alan Wicker, 39, of Shirley, Indiana, passed away on May 10, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, following an illness and hospitalization.
Chris was born on October 25, 1986, in Greenfield, Indiana. He was a 2005 graduate of Eastern Hancock High School and worked for many years at Tech Castings in Shirley. Chris was an avid lover of sports, the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and time spent with his friends and family. He was never one for anything too formal, and those who knew him best will remember his laid-back spirit, a helping hand, his love for the simple things, and the way he made people feel at home just by being himself. Chris was a proud dog dad to Lady and Bailey. He was also affectionately known as “Uncle Scissor” to Chloe, Dalton, Xavier, Bryce, Haylee, Mackenzie, Eli, Izaiah, Jaxson, Aaliyah, Jayden, Maclynn, Nellie, and Carsynn. Chris is survived by his father and special mother, Anthony “Tony” Wicker and Christina “Chrissy” Bump of Knightstown; his grandparents, Alan Wicker of Greenfield and Darla (Tanner) Hoffman of Greenfield; his siblings, Dusty Wicker of Greenfield, Michael (Rachel) Wicker of Greenfield, Kelly (Ashley) Carmer of New Castle, and Toni Leigh Wicker of Knightstown; his aunt and uncle, Lisa (Jim) Lofgreen of Greenfield; his cousin, Chelsea (Malcolm) Dardy of Indianapolis; his wife, Casey (Rance) Wicker of Knightstown; his biological mother, Dana Cook; and many extended family members and friends. The family would also like to recognize Chris’s best friends, Dave Stelzel of Knightstown, Neil and Megan Young of Greenfield, and Justin Turner of Greenfield, whose friendship meant so much to him. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home in Greenfield. Family and close friends are welcome to arrive one hour early. Family and friends may gather at Stillinger Family Funeral Home on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 2 PM for a funeral procession to Asbury Cemetery in Morristown, Indiana, where a graveside service and burial will take place. Chris was not a formal person, and the family invites those attending to come as they are or wear camo in his honor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Chris’s memory to the Indiana Nongame & Endangered Wildlife Fund through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, a tribute to his lifelong love of the outdoors and Indiana’s wildlife.
