C.L. "Corky" Morris July 22, 1924 - October 22, 2008 C.L. "Corky" Morris, 84, a resident of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born July 22, 1924 in Hamilton, OH to the late Homer and Edna (Hoskins) Morris. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre of Operations. He attended the University of Toledo and the University of Cincinnati. He spent forty years in hospital administration and related fields, serving three hospitals in Ohio; Assistant Administrator of Lima Memorial Hospital, Assistant Administrator of Bethesda Hospital, and Administrator of Highland Community Hospital. He was active in the Ohio Hospital Association and the Cincinnati Hospital Council. For 16 years he served as Administrator of the Hancock County Memorial Hospital. During that time he was active in the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, United Way and other charitable groups. Corky served on various councils, committees and the board of directors of the Indiana Hospital Association, including Chairman of the Board. He was elected delegate to the American Hospital Association from Indiana, was on the board and Treasurer of the Tri-State Hospital Assembly, received its Award of Honor, and was a member of the American College of Hospital Administrators. He was elected to the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Indiana Blue Cross for a number of years. He became Vice-President of the Indiana Hospital Association in 1976 and served in that capacity for ten years when ill health forced retirement. He received the Associations Award of Merit. He was a member of the Greenfield Christian Church, Greenfield Country Club, F. &A.M. Lodge No. 598 in Cincinnati, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine and Greenfield York Rite. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Verna Morris; daughter, Sharon (Skip) Makely; son, Barry Morris; grandchildren, Addison, Madeleine and Jackson Morris. He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Morris. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the Greenfield Christian Church, 23 North East Street, Greenfield, IN 46140.
