Clifton "Clif" R. Groves January 3, 1939 - January 21, 2010
Clifton R. Groves, 71, a resident of New Palestine, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
He was born January 3, 1939 in Portland, Tennessee and was the son of the late Harvey Lee and Vonnie Lucille (Stout) Groves.
Clifton was a graduate of Portland High School, served his country in the United States Army, retired from Consolidated Freight and was a 25 year member of the Local Teamsters #135. He attended Brookeville Road Community Church.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Lorianne Groves of New Palestine; son, Shannon (Lorie) Groves of White House, TN; brothers, Gaylen (Sharon) Groves of Portland, TN, Glen (Vicki) Groves of West Chester, OH; grandson, Devin Wright and granddaughter, Megan Groves, both of White House, TN.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tina Lynn Groves.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Wilkinson and Wiseman Funeral Home, 715 South Broadway, Portland, Tennessee, 37148. Burial will follow at Groves Cemetery in Portland. Friends may call Sunday, January 24, 2010 from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield and also from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2010 at Wilkinson and Wiseman Funeral Home, Portland, TN.
