Clyde E. Clemens, Sr.

Clyde Edward Clemens, Sr., 86, of Greenfield, passed away on September 11, 2020 with family by his side. He was born on September 28, 1933 in Bloomington, IN, to the late Gwen M. and Clara C. (Warling) Clemens. Clyde proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy from August 1951 to August 1959. He was on the U.S.S. Chevalier carrier during the Korean War. Clyde worked for International Harvester in many positions for many years before retiring in 1981. He also worked as a Supervisor for Navistar. He attended Stringtown Church of the Nazarene, now New Hope Church. Clyde enjoyed golfing and farming. He was also a huge supporter of IU and John Wayne. He was the owner/operator of many rental properties. He and his wife, Wanda, also wintered in Florida. Clyde is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Wanda (Tutrow) Coy Clemens; children: Cathy (Dave) Smiley, Debbie (Dan) Burke, and Clyde Edward (Carol) Clemens, Jr.; step-children: Tim (Teresa) Coy, Tom (Susan) Coy, Tony (Heather) Coy, and Tammy (Ronnie) Badgley; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Anna Staranowicz; and brother, Albert Clemens. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; first wife and mother of his children, Nancy (Arwein) Clemens; sisters: Rena, Gwendolyn, Edith Ann, and Norma; and brothers: Forest and Donald. The Clemens family would like to thank the staff at Suburban Hospice, along with private caregivers, Dee, Earlene, Colletta, and Marlene, for the wonderful care they gave to Clyde. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., also in the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Paul Galbraith. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens, Bloomington, IN.
