Corinne Louise New, 88 of Greenfield passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield.
She was born August 21, 1927 in Madison, Indiana to the late Herbert L. and Corinne (Johnson) Lyon. Corinne was a graduate of Madison High School and received her Bachelors of Science from Indiana University School of Business. She was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority at I.U.
She married Jack L. New on July 1, 1950. A longtime resident of Greenfield, Corrine was a substitute teacher for Greenfield Central School Corporation and an active member of Bradley United Methodist Church. She was involved in many organizations including; Tri Kappa Beta where she served as president in 1978 and 79, past Treasurer of the Hancock County American Cancer Society, member of the Greenfield Country Club and the Country Clubs Womens Association. Corinne also received the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash from Governor Frank OBannon.
Corinne loved the Colts and the I.U. Hoosiers and was an avid Bridge player and golfer.
She is survived by her children, Tom New of Indianapolis, John New of Greenfield, Ann New of Bainbridge Island, WA. 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack New in 2008; daughter, Sara New-St. Angelo in 2014, brother William and sister Elizabeth.
Services will be 12:00 pm, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Bradley United Methodist Church, 210 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140 with burial immediately following at Park Cemetery, Greenfield. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church.
