Dana E. Kirby, 85, of Greenfield, IN passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017. He was born to Robert A. Kirby and Ressie (Clark) Kirby in Hagerstown, IN on July 13, 1932. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He joined the Navy on his 18th birthday. He retired from the Navy and Naval Reserves after 35 years. He retired from teaching after 35 years. He had been the head of the science department at Greenfield-Central High School. He also taught at Hancock-Central High School; Blue River High School, and Mooreland High School. He was a member of Currys Chapel United Methodist Church, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, The USS Kearsarge CVA-33 Association, and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. Surviving Dana is his wife of over 60 years, Genevieve (Dillon) Kirby; two sons, Charles Lee (Rosemary) Kirby of Carthage; Terry Dean Kirby of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Calleen (Curt) Wilder of Indianapolis; Diana (Todd) Woodworth of Greenfield; two grandsons, Ryan and Devin; a granddaughter, Dana; and one great granddaughter, Courtney; two sisters; and one brother; Preceding Dana in death are his parents; two brothers; one granddaughter; and one daughter-in-law. Per Danas wishes, no public service will be held. He will be buried at Mooreland Cemetery in Mooreland, IN. Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield has been entrusted with final arrangements.
