Danny Thomas Willingham, 67, New Castle, IN, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 20, 2025, after a brief illness. Danny was born on January 30, 1957, in Franklin, IN, to Jerry Thomas and Eugenia Kay (Mabry) Willingham.
Danny was a simple man. He was accustomed to routine and schedule along with a cold beer. He had a tough demeanor when odds were against him. But he was a soft pushover around his daughter and granddaughter. Danny loved being in nature, the outdoors. He enjoyed trips to Tennessee. In his younger days, he often took his son and daughter on family vacations that included activities of swimming, paintballing, and camping. Danny loved his family dearly, especially when he became a grandparent for the first time. And when his only granddaughter arrived, he was wrapped around her little finger. Danny loved to attend car shows, listen to music, have a good time, relished every Friday evening eating dinner with his daughter and her family at The Park Restaurant, took in every stray cat on the streets, and was a stickler for safety. He was of the Christian faith. Danny loved to have deep conversations and debates with his son and he often encouraged his daughter and granddaughter to follow their dreams. Danny worked as a carpenter for IWP Inc, Construction in Greenwood until his untimely passing. Prior to IWP, Danny was employed with Baxter Medical, working in their warehouse.
Danny is survived by his loving children, Shane (Allie) Willingham and Katie (Chris) Cook; grandchildren: Shane Thomas Willingham, Jr, Jackson Edward Reid, Victoria Speck, and Savannah Kay Cook; sister, Cheryl (Gary) Long; nephews, Jeremiah Perdue, Joshua Perdue, and Evan Long; many cousins; beloved cat, Mr. Boots; and mothers to his children, Beverly Bell and Deborah (Jackson) Weaver.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
