David Pfaff, 68, of Greenfield, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, teammate, and educator whose kindness, wisdom, and steady presence touched countless lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Imogene Pfaff, his in laws, Ben and Vanessa Thompson, and his beloved grandson, River.
David is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Jane Pfaff; his children Aaron (Cara) Pfaff, Amanda (Rob) Ruble, Andrew (Caraline) Pfaff, and Samuel (Chelsey) Pfaff; his cherished grandchildren Ava, Kellen, Henry, Scarlett, Miles, and Bailey; and his brothers Doug Pfaff and Paul Pfaff.
David dedicated his life to his family, his students, and his community. Whether as a teacher, coach, teammate, or friend, he was known for his encouragement, loyalty, sense of humor, and ability to make others feel valued. His legacy will live on through the many people he guided, supported, and loved throughout his life. Family and friends will remember David for his generous heart, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to those closest to him. Though David retired from Eastern Hancock Schools after 42 years of service, his commitment to others never ended. He continued giving back to his community as a proud member of the Mary B. Thurston Education Foundation Board, the CHAMP Athletics board, and the Hancock County Community Foundation Grant Board
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate David’s life on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Brandywine Church in Greenfield. A service honoring his life and legacy will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Brandywine Church. All who knew and loved David are welcome to attend and share in remembering a life well lived.
The family asks that memorial donations be made in honor of David to the Eastern Hancock Education Foundation or the Eastern Hancock Athletic Boosters.
