Dennis Edwin Alyea October 1, 1950 - July 6, 2010
Dennis Edwin Alyea, 59, a resident of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at his home.
He was born October 1, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Paul and Pauline (Schilling) Alyea.
Dennis was a graduate of New Palestine High School, served as the Morristown Marshal from 1973 to 1975, served on the Shelby County Sheriffs Department May 1975 to May 1999 and served in the following positions under former Sheriff Mike Herndon: Patrolman, Detective, Captain of the uniform division and Chief Deputy. He owned and operated Steam Engines and Antique Tractors, owned and operated Alyea Trucking, was a member of the Shelbyville FOP, Indiana Sheriffs Association and was a Ham Radio Operator with call sign KA9LKV and former member of the Morristown Masonic Lodge 93.
He is survived by his wife, Nona (Freeman) Alyea of Greenfield; children, Denny and Danny Alyea of Greenfield, Jeremy (Marnie) Alyea of Canton, MI, Heather Alyea of Chicago, IL, Patrick Alyea of Hope, IN; granddaughters, Brooklyn and Mackenzie Alyea.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Alyea.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield with Pastor Michael Smith officiating. Friends may call Friday, July 9, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Community Hospital Hospice, 9894 E. 121st Street Fishers, IN 46037.

Rick passed " away this past May 29th, 2010 and I know how hard it must be for you and your family at this time. so sorry to hear about denny passing...i used to love to go down to 9 and 52 when he had the store down there and just chat with him...he was a really nice guy..he will " be missed.
