Dennis Russell "Russ" Sulek, 84, Greenfield, passed away February 4, 2023, surrounded by loving family at his residence. He was born January 14, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to the late Dr. Arthur and Clytia (Svoboda) Sulek. Russ was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and held a Master's degree from Purdue University.
His long and successful career as an electrical engineer for the United States government took him across the country, beginning at Hazeline Corporation in Indianapolis, Delco Electronics in Kokomo, Magnavox in Fort Wayne, Motorola in Scottsdale, Arizona, Wave Tech and Naval Avionics in Indianapolis, and Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Maryland. Always intellectually curious, he enjoyed amateur HAM radio and electronics even in his leisure time. Russ was a lifelong Christian who was very active in church settings throughout his adulthood. He led small group Bible studies, studied scripture, and enjoyed attending Friends of Israel prophecy conferences. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed traveling, hiking, camping, and other outdoor pursuits with his family. Most would exclaim that Russ was a nice guy who was always congenial, patient, kind, and loving.
In addition to his wife, Joan K. (Meyer) Sulek, Russ is survived by his two children, Michael (Karen) Sulek and Ann Sulek; grandchildren, Kyle (Katie) Sulek, Kara (Mark) Minyard, and Abby Sulek; great-grandson, Oliver Minyard; and sister Jean (Hugh) Jordan.
