Denty Rice

Denty Rice June 8, 1926 - July 18, 2012 Denty Rice, age 86 years, a resident of Greenfield, Indiana passed away Wednesday July 18, 2012 at his residence. He was born June 8, 1926 in Knobel, Arkansas to the late Charles W. and Ida Rice. A World War II Veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served aboard the USS Storm King from 1943 until 1946.He was a retired driver for Central Swallow Coach Lines of Greenfield, an operator of a private nursing home, and owned and operated rental properties locally. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion, and together with his wife they created a variety of crafts. He was an avid fisherman and small game hunter. He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Shrake) Rice of Greenfield, sons, Dennis Rice, Don, and Gary Huffman of Greenfield, daughters, Judy Sharpe of Gulf Shores, Alabama, Wanda Johnson, and Charlene Short both of Greenfield, several grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great great- grandchildren. Funeral service will be 5:00 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2012 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield with visitation from 2:00 p.m. until the service. The Family requests that in lieu of flowers donations should be made to the Hancock County Humane Society, 214 East Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140 in Mr. Rices name.
