Donald Eugene Cornett

Donald Eugene Cornett, 86, Greenfield, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023. Donald was born on May 20, 1937, in New Ross, IN, to Christopher and Ellen (Nicholson) Cornett. Donald married the love of his life, Carolyn Frances Wysong, on April 12, 1963.

Donald briefly served in the U.S. Air Force but extended his stint as a reservist for many years. He worked as a senior service specialist for 30+years at Esterline Angus in Speedway. Due to boredom after his 1992 retirement, he sought out to fill the void and joined Hewlett-Packard for 2 years and then Sears for 12 years. Donald was an avid woodworker, loved to manicure the yard, displayed his patriotism whenever he could, and loved spending quality time with his only grandchild.

Donald is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Cornett of 60 years; their children, Brian (Arlene) Cornett and Shelly Wyrick; grandson, Jason Wyrick; and sister, Mary Glassmeyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous siblings.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 12noon, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, with the service immediately following at 12noon, also at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Robert Wyrick. Burial will be in Lincoln Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenfield Hancock Animal Management.
