Donald Stephen Hine

Donald "Steve" Stephen Hine, 81, of Charlotte, MI passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 22, 2023. Steve was born on January 1, 1942, to James and Anabel Hine in Indiana.

After graduating from Hancock Central High School in 1959, he went on to receive a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and a MS in Aeronautical Engineering from Missouri Rolla University.

Steve pursued a career in Aeronautical Engineering in California and Missouri. He then worked at General Motors in Lansing, MI for 31 years. Steve retired in 2000 from General Motors. He spent his retirement golfing, following Purdue athletics, traveling, and spending time with his family.

In high school, Steve met Susan Jones. They married in June of 1962. During their 60 years of marriage, they had two wonderful children, Cynthia (Butch) Cook and Douglas Hine (Nicole). They have four cherished grandchildren, Brock Cook, Stephanie (Rob) Petre and Dakoda and Kaden Hine.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 4-6:00 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, MI. An additional visitation will be held at Stillinger Family Funeral Home in Greenfield, IN, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 11-1:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association and the Alliance to Cure Cavernous Malformations.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Provision of East Lansing.
