Donald William Puyear

Donald William Puyear, 78, lifelong resident of Indianapolis, passed away on October 24, 2026. He was born and raised in Indianapolis and was a proud graduate of Warren Central High School with the class of 1967.

Donald dedicated fifty years of his life to the grocery business, where he spent meaningful time working at Standard, Dinner Bell, Cub, and Marsh. Even in retirement, he continued to serve his community, working for Hendryx Mortuary in Cumberland.A man of simple pleasures and deep loyalties, Donald had a lifelong passion for sports music, and euchre. He especially loved bowling and achieved the impressive milestone of bowling a perfect 300 game. Above all, he cherished the time he spent hanging out with his brother, Dale. Donald’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Survivors are his loving children, Angie (Donna) Puyear and Amanda (Scott) Hoagland; his cherished grandchild, Haley Hoagland (fiancée, Chandlar); his faithful brother, Dale; sister, Sue; and several nieces & nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Thelma Laverne Puyear (Schircliff) and Grover Don Puyear; as well as a brother, Dennis, and a sister, Sandra.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 2, 2026, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Hendryx Chapel, 13100 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Brooklyn Cemetery, 7757 North Bottom Road, Mooresville, Indiana 46158.
