Donna Louise (Gibbs) Vanduyn

Donna Louise (Gibbs) VanDuyn, 83, of Shelbyville, Indiana, passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family on May 1, 2023. She was born May 21, 1939, in Greenfield, Indiana to the late Paul W. and Jessie L. (Crosley) Gibbs. She attended New Palestine High School. She was married to George Edward VanDuyn, Sr. on September 7, 1956 until his death in 2006.

Donna will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She was an avid camper and bird watcher. Although she never drove a day in her life, she loved traveling to sunny places, sandy beaches and to the mountains. A favorite destination was Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Both indoor and outdoor plants thrived under her care. Donna was a huge Elvis Presley fan and visited his former home, Graceland. She was an accomplished cook and quite an enthusiastic dancer, known to "shake her booty." Donna worked as a meat wrapper for Ranch Supermarket and Thomas Supermarket, both in Shelbyville. She continued her career as a press operator at Collins-Aikman Manufacturing from 1988 until her retirement in 2004. She was a member of the UAW. Donna was a member of Moscow Christian Church. She will be dearly missed by her family, including her devoted dog, Powder Puff, whom she adored.

She is survived by her children: Cindy (Ron) Roberts Campbell, Teresa Endersbe, Debra (Vernon) Turner, Bob VanDuyn, Randy (Angie) VanDuyn, and Linda Turner (Don Lucas); 21 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; 27 great-great grandchildren; brother, Bob (Glenda) Gibbs; and sister, Sue Anderson.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, George VanDuyn Jr. II and Michael Edward VanDuyn; sons-in-law, Dwight Endersbe, Paul Roberts, and Mark Holzhausen; and brothers, Jim Gibbs and Fred Gibbs.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana, with the service immediately following at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bruce Pierce officiating. Burial will take place in Curry's Chapel Cemetery, Greenfield. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Hospice, 8414 Franciscan Lane, Indianapolis, Indiana 46237.
