Doris Jean Griffin

Doris Jean (Barlow) Griffin age 86, of Avon passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Indiana University Hospital-West. She was born May 9, 1933 in Indianapolis to the late Charles F. Tebby and Agnes Braun-Fisher. Doris attended Howe High School in Indianapolis and then Bedford High School. Early in her career Doris was a Medical Lab Technologist for Bedford Medical Center. She did tax preparation for over 20 years up until the time of her death. Church and family were the scope of Doris' life. She relished in time spent with her children and grandchildren and was passionate about attending their life events. A devoted Christian, Doris was a long-time member of the First Church of God, Bedford where she taught Sunday school for 15 years and a 47 year member of the Avon Community Church of God where she served as church treasurer, worked for many missions including Camp Challenge. She was the State Treasurer for the Indiana South Christian Women's Connection for 30 years. She will be dearly missed by her church family. Doris is survived by her husband David A. Griffin of Avon; children, Steve (Sandy) Barlow, Lou Ann (Gregg Morelock), Brian (Belinda) Barlow, Sherri (Paul) Robbins, Lori (Robert) Eaker; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband Charles M. Barlow; sister, Elizabeth Terrell and brother, Charles Tebby. Friends may call 1 – 2 pm, Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Donica Church of God, 1969 Donica Church Road, Bedford, IN 47421. Funeral service at 2 pm with Rev. Bill Sandifer officiating.
