Dorothy "Dot" I. Canary February 21, 1926 - December 29, 2009
Dorothy "Dot" Canary, 83, a resident of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Golden Living Center Brandywine.
She was born February 21, 1926 in West Virginia to the late Ezra O. and Mae (Richardson) Meehling.
Dot was a graduate of Kankakee High School in Kankakee, IL, retired from Maxwell Concrete as a bookkeeper in 1995, and worked as a child care supervisor at the Downtown Fitness Center. She was an avid reader and loved to walk.
She is survived by four sons, Mike (Alex) Canary of Rochester, MI, Bill (Mary) Canary of Kingman, AR, Steve (Susan) Canary of Indianapolis, John (Marsha) Canary of New Castle; daughter, Cheryl (Randy) Walker of Greenwood; 10 grandchildren, Karrie, Samuel, Joseph, Erik, Chris, Jeremy, Steve Jr., Kelly, Rick and Randy; 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Canary in 1986, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2010 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield with Joel Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, January 3, 2010 from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimers Association, 50 E. 91st Street Suite 100 Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
