Dorothy J. (Riggs) Hardesty, age 90 of New Palestine, IN, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 9, 1927 in Terre Haute, IN to the late Robert Sr. & Era (Neely) Riggs.
Dorothy graduated from Garfield High School in 1945 and worked for Western Electric until her retirement. She married the love of her life, Charles E. Hardesty on March 11, 1948. She was known for the hats that she wore, her quilting, which every child and grandchild received, being a coalminers daughter, and her Irish decent.
Left to cherish Dorothys memory are her daughters, Donna (Royce) McDougall of New Palestine; Cindy (Keith) Blanton of South Bend; Vanessa Francom of Greenfield; grandchildren, Wendy (Ken Purvis) McDougall; Lisa (Mike) Fleetwood; Michael McDougall; Matthew (Marla) Blanton; Rachel (Tim) Johns; Whitney (Austin) Bullock; Elizabeth Francom; Jacob Francom; and 11 great-grandchildren with on more on the way.
Preceding Dorothy in death are her parents mentioned above; husband, Charles E. Hardesty; brother, Robert Riggs, Jr.; and sister, Marjorie Tryon.
Visitation for Dorothy will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday May 12, 2018 at Southeastern Church of Christ, 6500 Southeastern Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46203. A memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00pm. Burial will be at a later date.
