Dorothy Lavonne Palmer Whitaker September 17, 1926 - August 4, 2013 Dorothy Lavonne Palmer Whitaker, 86 formerly of Greenfield and Mt. Dora, Florida passed away Sunday August 4, 2013 at Elmcroft Senior Living Center in Muncie. Dorothy was born September 17, 1926 in Pendleton, Indiana the daughter of the late George and Neva (Tharp) Palmer. Dorothy married Robert L. Whitaker on February 23, 1947. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2004 Dorothy was a 1945 graduate of Pendleton High School, a member of the Fountaintown Christian Church and attended Hazelwood Christian Church in Muncie. She was a Girl Scout Co- Leader and volunteered for the developmentally disabled. Dorothy enjoyed making crafts and quilting. Dorothy is survived by son, Dennis Whitaker of Tulsa, OK, daughter, Linda (Jerome) McKean of Muncie, 2 grandchildren, Michael Thomas McKean and Dorothy Eloise McKean, brother George "Don" ( Madonna) Palmer of Pendleton, sister, Annette Pierson of Springfield, Oregon, sister-in-laws, Pearlnora Johnson of Carthage and Betty Whitaker of Greenfield, several nieces and nephews, cousin Tom (Pearlann) Haines of Greenfield. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday August 9, 2013 at the Stillinger Family Funeral Home Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street Greenfield IN 46140. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.Thursday August 8, 2013 and 1hour before service time at the funeral home.
