Earl J. Roberts September 20, 1922 - September 15, 2009 Earl J. Roberts, 86, a resident of Greenfield, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the Golden Living Center Brandywine. He was born September 20, 1922 in Elton, Wisconsin and is the son of the late Jay and Bertha (Brown) Roberts. He retired October 1, 1984 from North Shore Gas Company of Waukegan, IL where he was a supervisor for 30 years. He was a US Navy Veteran that served during WW II. He was a beloved husband and grandfather that loved spending time with his family. He was also a member of the Greenfield Lions Club and enjoyed Square Dancing during his retirement years. He is survived by his wife Marion (Brown) Roberts of Greenfield whom he married November 9, 1946, sons, Bruce (Paula) Roberts of WI, John E. (Jennifer) Roberts of Arnold, MD, daughters, Kathleen (David) Tuck of Fair Oaks, CA, Debra (David) Howell of Greenfield, sisters, Bessy Cronce of Tybee Island, GA, Lorraine Brouillard of Gurnee, IL, 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 19, 2009 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery of Greenfield with military graveside rites provided by the Greenfield Veteran Honor Guard. I'm sure you will hear of the time he made one of our Lions Paws into a donut and told Tri-Kappa we were going to sell them just to tease them.
