Edna Fay (Lucas) Butterworth, 87, Greenfield, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on July 23, 2024, as her loving family stood by her side. Edna was born on February 25, 1937, in Letcher County, Kentucky, to Edwin and Lillie Mae (Spangler) Lucas. She married Herbert G. Butterworth on July 4, 1954.
Edna held many places of employment over her years, including babysitting, Indiana Knitware, East Side Screw Production, Hancock Memorial Hospital, and Greenfield Middle School. But she most enjoyed volunteering at the Boys & Girls Club working as a foster grandparent in her retirement years. Edna loved to crotchet, collect dolls, and attend church at Apostolic Pentecostal Church. She loved children and was a mom to everyone. She was simple and shared zero harsh words. She was a member of Reach Out to the Handicap as well as the Mother's Club while raising her son.
Edna is survived by her loving siblings: Henry Lucas, Norma Isaac, and Linda Brown; caretakers, Dawn and Jeff Ferrell; and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Anthony Butterworth; husband, Herbert Butterworth; and siblings: Edwin Bowen, Arnold Lucas, Paul Lucas, Glen Lucas, and Ruth Lucas.
Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Greenfield, is assisting the Butterworth family during their loss. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at Park Cemetery with Pastor Daniel Cramer officiating.
