Edward W. Schneider, 96, a resident of Indianapolis, formerly of Greenfield, died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at St. Augustine Home for the Aged, Indianapolis.
Ed was born and raised in Jasper Indiana, the third child of Jacob and Rose (Steinhauser) Schneider. Most of his adult life was spent in central Indiana and much of his work life involved electrical supply sales while also owning and operating farms and cattle ranches in Camby and Carthage.
Later years found him wholesaling clothing lines, tutoring at IPS # 14 and performing in the Indianapolis Senior Center Kitchen Band. Since 2002, Ed had resided at St. Augustine Home for the Aged in Indianapolis and he was so very thankful for the loving friendship and care provided by the Little Sisters of the Poor and their Staff. He was also grateful to all the professionals on "Blue Team" at the V. A. Hospital for the many years of exceptional health care they provided.
Ed was a WW II, U.S. Navy Seabees veteran and a 60 year plus member of the American Legion Post 119. He had a special love for hunting, fishing, gardening, his St. Louis Cardinals and his country. His memorabilia included a number of recognitions and certificates of appreciation for the special efforts he put forth in his lifetime to help others.
He leaves a brother James, numerous nieces and nephews, the very special Dave Swincher family of the Austin Texas area and locally, friends Betty, Judy, Linda, Paul, Rolly, Sharon, Tom and many many others. His wife Freeda "Frieda" (Aldrich) preceded him in death as did his parents, a sister Marcella (Sally) Schutz and brothers Arnold and Vincent.
