Ellen Jane (Egger) Jones

Ellen Jane (Egger) Jones, 75, Greenfield, IN, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2026, at St. Vicent Hospital, Carmel. Ellen was born on March 9, 1951, in North Liberty, IN, to parents John and Dorothy (Wright) Egger. She is a graduate of Burris High School, Muncie, IN. She furthered her education by attending Ball Memorial Hospital’s x-ray division and secured her x-ray technician license. She married Charles L. Jones on December 29, 1979, in San Diego, CA.

Ellen wore the crown when it came to her family and friends. She was the best wife, the best mother, the best grandmother, and the best friend anyone could ask for. She would sacrifice everything for anyone, any time. Her heart was made of gold. She spoke of no enemies. She worked as an x-ray technician for 30 years.

She is survived by her loving husband, Chuck of 46 years; her daughters, Heather (Jim) Penn and Holly Thomas (Jesse Mullins); 3 grandchildren, Haley (Dylan) Gaynor, Eddie Mullins, and Zach Penn; brother, Chuck Egger; sisters-in-law, Joyce Egger and Lynn Egger; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Brittany Thomas; and brothers, Bob Egger, John Egger, and Dr. Ross Egger.

Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Greenfield, is of assistance to the family during their loss of Ellen. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later time in Middletown, IN.
