Ellis Edsol Miles, Jr.

Ellis Edsol "Junior" Miles, Jr., Fortville, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on July 13, 2023. He was born October 2, 1948, in Indianapolis to Edsol Ellis and Betty Irene (Lewis) Miles.

Junior was a supervisor for Division IX LTD in Indianapolis for many years. Junior continued in the construction business with his loving wife as owner/operator of J&B Miles Construction of Fortville. After his retirement, Junior enjoyed working different positions at Walmart in Greenfield as well as Penticuff, LLC in Fortville as the shop manager. He was an active member of Greenfield Church of God and spent many hours volunteering and providing maintenance for the church.

Family and friends will remember Junior as a hardworking, dedicated family man, a storyteller, a leader, a teacher, and a mentor. He was funny, witty, and lovingly known as a "smart ass" to those who loved him. Junior was loved by everyone, as he never met a stranger. He loved wood working and outdoor activities including deer hunting, fishing, camping, and boating. Above all else, he loved and cherished his wife and family.

Junior is survived by his beloved wife, rock, and everything of 52 ½ years, Bobbie Jean (Foster) Miles; daughters, Ellisa (Jim) Webster and Jeannie (Robert) McFarland; grandchildren, Matthew Miles, Cody Webster, Breanna Miles, Kaylie McFarland, Cody McFarland, Alyssa McFarland, Kayla Dunbar, and Jacob Dunbar; great grandchildren, Wesley, Maggie, Duncan, Adrianna, Jackson, and Greyson; mother-in-law, Wilma Jean Foster; brothers-in-law, Edward Burton and Billy Hatfield; sister-in-law, Patricia Vice; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Edsol Ellis Miles; mother, Betty Parker; sisters, Sandra Burton, and Cathy Hatfield; and nephew, Billy Wayne Hatfield, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, with the service immediately following at 4:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Miles family to offset funeral expenses.
