Elsie Leary Blanchard, age 78 of Greenfield passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. She was born on May 17, 1938 in Lakeland, FL to the late Joseph Leary and Pauline (Whitaker Leary) Pope.
Elsie graduated from Greenfield High School and married the love of her life, Thomas G. Blanchard on September 20, 1958. She was a Laboratory Nurse at Greenfield Hospital and later worked in a medical office. She enjoyed attending church, golf, bowling, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her potato salad, pecan tarts and caramel corn were legendary. Elsie was the cornerstone of her family and was beloved by them and her friends. She shared with her family that her heart was full and she would have never dreamed to ask God for all the wonderful blessings she received.
Elsie is survived by her husband, Thomas Blanchard of Greenfield; sons, Edward (Connie) Blanchard of Cherry Hill, NJ; Samuel (Mary Kite) Blanchard of Muncie; Russell (Cynthia) Blanchard of Fishers; daughter, Kelly (Raymond) Modglin of Bloomington, IN; brother, John Leary of Greenfield; sister, Paula (Melvin) Grose of Port Ritchie, FL; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 8 step grandchildren; and 2 step great grandchildren.
Preceding Elsie in death are her parents listed above and her brother, Karl Leary.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield, 1780 W. Main St, Greenfield, IN 46140. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd, Greenfield, IN 46140 with Fr. Aaron Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
