Ernest Albert Sipf April 11, 1916 - December 30, 2012
Ernest Albert Sipf, 96 years, a resident of Greenfield passed away Sunday morning December 30, 2012 at Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield.
He was born April 11, 1916 in Delphi, Ind. to the late Christian E. & Rosalind G. (Albert) Sipf.
He graduated from Indiana University with a Law Degree, served in the US Army during WW II and the Korean War. He was a Section Chief for the Veterans Administration for 40 years. He was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Anglican Catholic Church, Indianapolis, North Park Masonic Lodge, Hancock Shrine Club, Scottish Rite and the Knightstown American Legion Post. He volunteered at Day Spring Family Shelter, Hancock Regional and Community Hospitals. He was an avid golf player, sports fan and loved gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene (Souder) Sipf of Greenfield , step-children, Jeff Martin of Pendleton, Tony Martin of Greenfield, Joe Martin of Ft. Wayne, Julie Vojnovich of McCordsville, 3 grandchildren, Michael Horton, John Horton, Leann Bartley, 12 step- grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents listed above, 1st wife, Helen Sipf, daughter, Shirley Horton, great granddaughter, Annie Bartley, sister, Peggy White, brothers, Caroll and Arthur Sipf.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday January 3, 2013 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday January 4, 2013 at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 63rd & Keystone, Indianapolis. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield with military graveside honors.
