Florence Marie Irving, age 100 of Greenfield, Indiana passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015 at her home.
She was born January, 21, 1915 to Albert and Eleanor (Proeschel) Vonderau in New Haven, Indiana.
Florence graduated in 1933 from New Haven High School. She married C.C. "Skunk" Irving on January 1, 1937. She and her husband were proprietors of a neighborhood grocery located at St. Joe. Center in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
Mrs. Irving and her husband moved to Greenfield, Indiana in 1946 after acquiring a ready mixed concrete, sand and gravel company. She resided in Greenfield and was a member of the Bradley United Methodist Church for nearly seventy years.
During those years she and her husband,C.C. "Skunk" Irving operated the Irving Game Farm. The Irvings participated with many local, state, and national zoological organizations and universities involved in the research of endangered animals. In addition to their interest in animals the Irvings were avid world travelers.
She is survived by sons; Pete (Dawn) Irving of Naples, Florida and Joe Irving of Athens, Georgia. Florence was delighted to be the Grandmother of six Grandchildren and three Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, C.C. "Skunk" Irving, her sister Anita Tustison and her twin brother, Fred Vonderau.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 24, 2015 at Bradley United Methodist Church, 210 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Private family burial.
