Floyd Allen Hughes Jr. (Buster), 94, entered heaven surrounded by family and friends at his home October 16, 2025. Floyd was born April 2, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Floyd and Tempie (Conkwright) Hughes. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan (Betty) Peters, on April 27, 1952. They were married 73 years. He had 3 children, Douglas (stillborn), Mike (Lorri) Hughes, and Cathy (Clinton) Jennings; grandchildren, Corbin (Katie) Jennings, Corina Jennings (Marcus), Katie (Dylan) Letherer; step-grandchildren, Sara (Tom) Wright and Anna Halsey; step-great-grandchildren Chloe, Shiloh, Astrid, and William.
Those that preceded him in death was his sister, Loana (Hughes) Corrado and nephew, Billy Stansell.
Floyd was a faithful Christian and attended church at Greenfield First Church of the Nazarene. He attended school in Michigan, Kentucky, and graduated from Charlottesville (Eastern Hancock) in 1950.
After graduation he served in the National Guard and the Army as a mechanic during the Occupation of Germany.
Floyd worked at Delco Remy for a few years, drove the school bus for 17 ½ years for Eastern Hancock, and was a lifetime farmer.
Floyd loved being with family and friends. He enjoyed camping, games, bike riding, running, swimming, ice skating, horses, and cats. Floyd loved farming, working hard, and being outdoors.
Floyd never met a stranger. He showed Christian virtues by being giving, generous, and helping out others. He will be missed greatly by his family, friends, and his cats. He has left a legacy that everyone should try to follow.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Greenfield First Church of the Nazarene, 1980 South State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140.
Visitation will be on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield. An additional visitation will be held the following day, Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with the service starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Greenfield.
