Gary A. Gustin, 92, lifelong resident of Greenfield, passed away September 16, 2025. Gary was born on May 19, 1933, in Greenfield, to parents Harry and Hester (Walker) Gustin. He was a 1951 graduate of Greenfield High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Gary married the love of his life, Luellen Wicker, on August 26, 1956.
Gary's deep love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a devoted member of Charlottesville Friends Church, serving the church for many years. Equally strong was his love of family as he and Luellen raised four children together. Gary had a lengthy career at General Motors in Indianapolis for 40 years before retiring in May 1991. His dedication and work ethic provided a strong foundation for his family to grow and thrive on a small farm, surrounded by horses and a variety of animals over the years. A passionate musician, Gary enjoyed playing several instruments including the organ, piano, banjo, and theremin. He was also a dedicated member of the Melody Masters, a gospel band that performed in numerous churches for over 20 years. His love of music extended into other hobbies, including square dancing where he met his beloved wife, Luellen. In addition to his musical talents, Gary was a skilled quilter, lovingly crafting many beautiful quilts for family and friends over the years.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Luellen of 69 years; their children, Mary (Phil) Jessup, Viv (Troy) Hendricks, and David (Denise) Gustin; daughter-in-law, Annette Gustin; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Loretta Stark and Gayle Pierson.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; son, Danny Gustin; and brothers, Guy Gustin and Lloyd Gustin.
