Gene Edward Maroska, 83, Greenfield, passed away August 18, 2025. He was born to Fred and Francis (Young) Maroska. He graduated from Greenfield High School, class of 1960. He married his best friend, Dorothy A. (Hill) Maroska, on September 24, 1960.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of 64 years and children, Garen D. Maroska (wife, Stacey), Bryan J. Maroska (wife, Robin), and Barbara E. Hockman (husband, Lonnie); eight grandchildren: Trisha, Brandon, Jace (wife, Lena), Amanda (husband, J.P.), Joshua (wife, Paige), Jensen, Samantha (husband, Jonathon), and Bryce (wife, Julia); fourteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Wright of Greenfield, JoAnn Ash of Texas; and brother, Jim Halcomb (wife, Norma) of Greenfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law.
Gene retired from Vectren Gas Company after 38 ½ years of service. He had a love of the land all his life and had been a farmer for many years. He was an active member of Shiloh Christian Church serving as a deacon and as a greeter with a hug for everyone. He was a past 25-year member of Charlottesville Lions Club.
Visitation will be on Monday evening, August 25, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street. An additional visitation will also be held the following morning, Tuesday, August 26, 2025, also at the funeral home, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the service immediately following. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery, Morristown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Christian Church or the Charlottesville Lions Club.
