Genevieve Metz Olson

Genevieve Metz Olson, age 96 of Greenfield, Indiana was called to rest under Hospice Care at Hancock Regional Hospital on Sunday, March 19, 2017. Gigi, as she was lovingly known as, was born on August 20, 1920 to Herbert and Blanche (Goble) Metz. Genevieve married Ervin Olson on October 17, 1949 in Spencer County Indiana. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, grandmother and great grandmother. Her life is a true love story. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Ervin; who passed in April of 2006. She has the first letter she ever received from this love of her life. She has also seen tragedy in the deaths of three of her great grandchildren. Above this she has stayed true and faithful and was a great example to all who knew her. She is deeply loved and will be missed by her two sons, Steve (Amy) Olson of Corpus Cristi, TX; Phil (Sandra) Olson of Greenfield; grandchildren, Doug & Greg (Cara) Olson of Greenfield; Aaron (Melanie) Olson of San Jose, CA; Audrey (Dustin) Evanson of Lisbon, ND; and Angela (Devon) Wijesinghe of Atlanta, GA. She will also be missed by her six great grandchildren who loved giving her hugs and snuggles as she always had room on her lap and outstretched arms. Many thanks go out to her caregivers at Golden Living Center Brandywine as well as her friends and family who dedicated their time in making regular visits to see here while she was under their care. Your kindness was always noticed and appreciated. Visitation for Genevieve will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield, 1780 W. Main St, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the funeral home with burial immediately following the service at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
