George James Barnett, Jr., 60, New Whiteland, IN, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, while at Rosegate Village in Indianapolis. George was born on December 16, 1964, in Ashland, KY, to Elizabeth JoAnn (Yates) and George James Barnett, Sr. He is a graduate of A.C. Davis High School, Yakima, WA.
Although George was born with disabilities, that never stopped him from graduating high school, gaining employment, nor living on his own. George loved life, always had a smile on his face, had a sweet demeanor about himself, and was loved by others. His family credits his mother for babying him due to his condition, thus allowing him to live a long, prosperous life well beyond the suggested medical span given by physicians. George loved to play the tambourines at Full Gospel Ministry Church. While living in Washington state, George was in a bowling league and while in Indiana, he loved to continue to bowl at East Gate Bowling Lanes, even scoring a high of 199. He enjoyed playing card games such as UNO and Skip-Bo. He was adaptable and always followed the rules, never acting out of character. For 15 years, George's sister-in-law Brenda additionally had the privilege of home-schooling him with activities as well as being a mentor and caregiver. While living in Washington, George worked at a small manufacturing facility.
George is survived by his loving brother and sister-in-law, John and Brenda Barnett; half-siblings: Bobby (Jennifer) Barnett, Tracy Barnett, Kim Barnett, and Linda (Joey) Sparks; and one niece and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Sr.; mother, Elizabeth Lane; wonderful aunts, Betty and Cynthia; grandparents, John and Irene Barnett; grandmother, Laura Vernatter; and grandfather, Curtis Yates.
