George "Jesse" James, Jr. July 6, 1926 - June 23, 2010 George "Jesse" James, Jr., 83, a resident of Greenfield, formerly of California, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Hancock Regional Hospital after complications from surgery. He was born July 6, 1926 in Bayonne, New Jersey to the late George and Mary James. George attended elementary and college prep schools in New Jersey. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp and was assigned to Naples, Italy where he flew transport aircraft during WWII. After receiving his honorable discharge and with the required study he became a degreed engineer and worked for Convair, General Dynamics, Fairchild Aircraft, Boeing and finally settled in Lancaster, CA in 1965 working for NASA at Edwards Air Force Base. His efforts at that time were split between general dynamics flight and NASAS development of the F-111A Structural Aircraft. He was a member of the Wayside Chapel in Rosamond, CA. He is survived by a son, Jeffrey L. James of Greenfield, IN; daughter, Melody A. Doull of California; 10 grandchildren, David, Shawn and Travis James, Jake Doull, Danielle James, Jessica Doull, Tara Perdue and Janee Doull; 2 great grandsons, Chad Hastenings, Ashton Williams; great granddaughter, Summer Ranae Perdue. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Loretta Ann James who died an untimely death; son, Zachary A. James; granddaughter, Desiree James; sister, Geraldine Skoll. There will be no services at this time for Mr. James. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield.
