Harvey T Callahan, age 82, of Rushville, Indiana, passed away peacefully July 2, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 4, 1940, in McCory, Arkansas, to the late Houston Lee and Bertha Sara (Taylor) Callahan. He was married to Sharon (Houston) Callahan until her passing on May 3, 2014.
Harvey will be remembered as a devoted family man who doted on his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He enjoyed bowling in his youth and was a fan of western movies, especially those starring John Wayne. An avid sports fan, Harvey rooted for Indiana University basketball, the Colts and the Pacers. He enjoyed long drives around the countryside, and traveling to favorite destinations such as Oklahoma, Arkansas and Tennessee. He served in the Army while stationed in Korea. After serving his country, he enjoyed a long career as a truck driver in the food service industry, first for ARA Food Service, then for Indianapolis Public Schools, retiring at the end of 2002.
He is survived by his children, Kimberlin Cook (James Porter), Theresa Boles, Michelle (Michael) Hoovler, and James (Tracie) Boles; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Houston Lee Callahan; mother, Bertha Sara Pitcock; wife, Sharon Callahan; brother, James L. Callahan; sisters, Mary Spight and Florence Barentine; two grandchildren, Matt Cook and Todd Cook; great-grandson, Mason Harvey Gilles; niece, Karen Cleverly; nephew, James Cleverly; and great-nephew, Tony Barentine.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, July 7, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home – Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana, 46140. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., followed by burial at Park Cemetery, Greenfield, with full military honors afforded. Grandson Brant Lattimore and Pastor Darrell Miller will officiate.
